Location - Ferragudo/Portimão
Our villa is located on the outskirts of the peaceful historic fishing village of Ferragudo.
Within easy walking distance there are two of the Algarve's more secluded picturesque golden beaches Praia Grande and Praia do Pintadinho which offer privacy, peace and tranquility.
A five minute walk along the maze of cobbled streets takes you to superb restaurants where friendly helpful waiters serve a variety of dishes. You can enjoy freshly caught fish, cooked on open barbecues overlooking the lovely views over the River Arade. Should you prefer a more diverse range of menus why not try the many pavement cafe style eateries set within the traditional market square.
For a relaxing holiday, good beaches, plenty of places for an evening meal and scenic walks, Ferragudo is hard to beat.
For those seeking a more vibrant nightlife we recommend a visit to the nearby Praia da Rocha. Set on this beautiful coastline, Praia da Rocha offers many cosmopolitan restaurants, bars and clubs catering for all ages. Combined with the late night markets, art studios and jewelers shops this town truly comes to life after sunset.
This is all complimented by the excellent daytime shopping facilities in Portimao centre and the local stores of Ferragudo.
A short ride/drive away will take you into the breathtaking mountain scenery of the Serra de Monchique. With its twisty roads, many gravel trails and very little traffic this is the perfect setting for motorcyclists (on or off road), mountain bikers and hikers to enjoy their passion.
One of the things Monchique is famous for is the production of Medronho - a liqueur made from the fruits of the arbutus (strawberry) tree which grow in the surrounding hills. It is an acquired taste and, be warned, rather strong (particularly the 'local' brews), but supposedly very good if you have a cold!
For those wishing a more relaxing time Monchique also has many scenic woodland walks, natural spring water spas and wellness centres. Remember to make time for some personal pampering before dining at the best piri piri restaurants in the Algarve.
